Planckian electrons and phonons

Abstract

The Planckian time tau ~ hbar/(k T) is ubiquitous in both conventional and unconventional condensed matter systems. It has been proposed that the Planckian time may correspond to an absolute bound on quantum dynamics. I will discuss somewhat down-to-earth aspects of Planckian scattering in conventional metals, semiconductors and insulators. I will end with some ideas about the role of electrons and phonons in high Tc materials..
